Sharon Temple - Sharon, Ontario
Gemini Duets - Sam Dickinson
Recorded over two hot days in August 2024, Sam Dickinson's compositions are a perfect match for the acoustically beautiful Sharon Temple.
"I originally learned about the Sharon Temple while working as a recording engineer for CBC Radio in the early 1990's. What struck me most about the space, beyond its acoustics, was the feeling of calm I felt when on the grounds and inside the temple. It was during these CBC recording sessions when I decided that someday I would be back. Fast forward 30 years and the perfect project presented itself in the form of a solo guitar album by Sam Dickinson. The Sharon Temple creates a rare reverberant sound that has a beautiful bloom but never feels overwhelming."
Ron Skinner - Producer / Recording Engineer and owner of TQM Recording Co.
Sharon Temple
I don't know if The Children of Peace had acoustics in mind when they were constructing the Sharon Temple but they achieved greatness in that regard. Master Builder Ebenezer Doan was in charge of designing and building the Temple and it was completed in 1932. Doan was a highly accomplished builder, as evidenced by the creative techniques used in the temple structure. The Temple was in use by the Children of Peace from its completion in 1832 until their final service in 1889. After that time the Temple fell into disrepair. In 1918 the building was saved and transformed into a museum. The Temple received its National Historic Designation in 1993.
